About us
The Center for Excellence and Equity in Mathematics is a research and educational center with a two-fold mission: to find ways to make significant improvements in the quality of K-12 and introductory college-level mathematics courses and to use mathematics as a tool to provide students from inner cities and underrepresented minority groups with the educational and lifetime opportunities that all students deserve.
Chartered in 2007 at Wayne State University, the center builds upon the successful legacy of a collection of programs previously known as the Mathematics Pipeline. From the beginning, these programs have been about making a difference and changing lives. The cornerstones of the center—the Math Corps at the K-12 level and the Emerging Scholars Program at the college level—have received widespread acclaim and national recognition.
